I have already had the joy of wearing, walking and hiking extensively in two pairs of Peace in the Streets style Teysha boots., which lasted for years. They are very durable and comfortable, and soften up considerably after the leather is broken in. They were perfect for backpacking in Guatemala, roadtripping across the USA, and exploring Europe. I would recommend the adventure soles for more extensive hiking outdoors, but the rubber addition to the leather sole is perfect for most travel and terrain.
As for the textile choices in my most recent creation, I appreciate the Almolonga Bosque textile because they remind me of the huipiles worn and woven by the women I would see when exploring Quetzaltenango, and specifically the pueblos Cantel and Zunil. The "Venado" (Deer) design on the inner panel is a powerful and spiritual image represented in many textiles and a nice compliment to the Almolonga Bosque on outer panel. The brilliant colors and design reflect the majesty and natural beauty of the Mayan highlands, from the vast fields of agricultural produce that fill the mountainsides, to the volcanoes and pine forests that surround the panorama of breathtaking blue skies. The threads themselves contain knowledge and stories transmitted through millennia and preserved today through culture, craft, and a deep connection with nature. It's an honor to have met such talented artisans and especially to represent the beauty and skills of the Guatemalan people. ¡Gracias gracias gracias a Teysha y a los artesanos y las tejedoras de Guatemaya!
